JUST EAST OF GEORGETOWN , MAINE One could say the ocean is white with rage
or one could say it has a creamy complexion,
like my daughter's as she stands looking out
at the incoming waves or turns and runs,
giggling at the foam spilling over her shoes.
Last night I couldn't remember his name,
but today here on a beach just east
of Georgetown , Maine Nick Brignola,
Nick Brignola, the surging ocean seems
to whisper, Nick Brignola, Nick Brignola....
For Nick Brignola, jazzman extraordinaire,
is dead, and in this moment, my daughter here
by my side, there is no room for rage,
only my daughter and me, like an instance of grace. |
